WCA July General Meeting

The WCA monthly meetings provide a forum for not only members of the WCA, but all residents of Wamboin, plus local community, social and sporting groups to update on their activities and discuss local issues and concerns. Additionally plans for WCA events such as Bonfire & Fireworks Night or Meet the Candidates sessions are made. The monthly meetings are a great opportunity to meet your neighbours, learn from others and become active in your local community.

Saturday 17 August 2024, from 7.00pm

The Great Wamboin Curry Night

At the Wamboin Community Hall. Please arrive around 7.00 pm, for dinner from 7.30 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to overwhelming interest in recent years, bookings are essential. Space is strictly limited (unless you're happy to sit outside...), so book early to avoid disappointment!

The Curry Night will follow the very successful format set in place many years ago by Dave Hubbard. There is a gold coin donation requested to offset the hire of the Hall, tables and chairs.

All diners bring along a prepared (curry) dish to share with the assembled masses. The dishes are displayed with descriptive labels, including the dish name and its heat intensity (mild, medium, hot), and are then on offer to all curry munchers from 7.30pm.

BYO suitable beverage to wash it down, as well as your own side dishes, nibbles, plates and cutlery.

Prizes will be awarded to the 3 best dishes selected by a secret (no bribes) judge.

For bookings or more information, contact Dave Hubbard on 6238 3308 or at dave.hubbard@bigpond.com.

The Annual Wamboin Bonfire and Fireworks Night

It's on again at the Wamboin Community Centre! The annual WCA bonfire and fireworks display provides that unique opportunity to engage in conversation with other community members and partake of the many culinary delights prepared by local community groups, while enjoying the always spectacular display of fireworks.

Support local community groups, including Wamboin Community Association, Church, Fire Brigade, Wonderful Women of Wamboin, Pony Club, Play Group, Sutton School - with their traditional Stalls of Hot Dogs, Gluhwein, Soups, Chips, Steak Sangers, Bacon Egg Sangers, Pies, Baked Spuds, Curry Platters, Glo Sticks, Soft Drinks, Tea, Wagonga Coffee and other Beverages.

Food and drinks available from 5.30 pm, bonfire lit at 6.36 pm, followed by fireworks at 7.06 pm precisely!

Please note that this is a CASH ONLY event (no EFTPOS or ATM facilities will be avialable), with one flat rate—Family $10—proceeds to the Salvation Army.

This is a major fundraising effort for many of our community groups, so please mark the event in your diary now, and plan to come along and enjoy this social event with your friends and neighbours.

Please not also that no drones are permitted in the area on the evening other than the one operated by Fireworks Australia. Fireworks Australia provide us with a high quality fireworks display at a very generous rate and ask that, in return, they have exclusive rights to record drone-based video footage of the event.
